Digital Afrika
Digging deep into the depths of African rhythms and melodies, and influenced by international club music from Lagos to New York, Digital Afrika is pushing the frontiers of live dance floor orientated Afro House in Australia and beyond. It all began with Digital Afrika’s 2018 debut vinyl EP ‘Dark Matter’, which showcased the production powers of two Australian producers: Future Roots and Si Fixion. Their music incorporates multi-instrumentation, MPC sequences, live African percussion and Digital/Analog production. The EP was digitally released by Wonderwheel Records (NYC) in 2019, and was met with critical acclaim from recognised taste makers around the world including Carl Cox (Awesome Soundwave), Nicodemus (Wonderwheel Records), Gilles Peterson (BBC, Brownswood Records) and more.
Digital Afrika are based in Melbourne Australia, and have been touring extensively since their inception. This includes several national tours as well as performances at Australia’s premiere dance and world music festivals, and a nomination nod from Victoria’s AGE Music awards. They have toured internationally in Europe and Asia, and highlights include WOMADelaide, Meredith, Strawberry Fields, Bali Spirit and Rainbow Serpent Festival. The duo’s live show is an original and dynamic synergy of digital sequences alongside high energy African percussion, hardware synths and featuring Afro/Latin traditional & modern dancers. Digital Afrika's sound is a dance floor stimulator for any corner of the globe.
Digital Afrika made their debut on ASW with their EP and single “Asiko” in 2020, featuring high octane vocals from African-Australian artists Remi, Thando Sikwila, Olugbade Okunade and Cazeaux Oslo. Their debut album “Heart of Drums” was released on ASW in 2022.
