“Introducing… my new personal project, inspired by my homeland: ‘Worlds End - The Island Series’. 🎶🇮🇪

Having grown up on the coast of west Mayo, Ireland, I always felt the deep mystery of this mountainous landscape. And, being on the coast I’d often look out to the many islands dotted along the sea line. There is so much beauty and history here, many stories of pilgrimage, island life, seafaring and piracy. People have left their mark over the centuries and yet the islands have maintained their raw wild beauty.

This new project of mine is called ‘Worlds End’ because, simply, these islands feel like they are at the edge of the world, and are subject to enormous change, change happens and peoples’ worlds end. I wanted to go to each of these islands off the coast of the west of Ireland with my gear and a small generator, set up, and see what sounds come out. And by collaborating with my friend and visual artist Roy Gerritsen of YFX Lab, we wanted to create an audio visual piece that somehow captures another flavour of these magical places.

Filmed by the so talented Team Point Brake and produced by Tara Clarke, this film ‘Achill Henge’, is the first in the series.. and I hope to continue til we have done it on all the islands ! Achill is the largest of the islands and easiest accessible, and Achill Henge is a piece of protest art created as an act of rebellion only 15 years ago. It felt appropriate to start here !”
